Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive dysphagia evaluations and deliver individualized treatment plans
• Competently conduct Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies and interpret results
• Provide cognitive and PMV (prolonged mechanical ventilation) evaluations and interventions
• Manage an adult caseload (typically 8–12 patients depending on evaluations/treatments)
• Document assessments, plans and progress clearly and promptly in Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and rehab team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on safe swallowing strategies and rehabilitation goals
• Adhere to facility policies and ASHA-recommended best practices

Qualifications

• Current SLP license (state licensure required for practice)
• ASHA certification recommended
• Minimum 1 year experience working with adult population in acute care or inpatient rehab
• Demonstrated competence in Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) procedures
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital setting and handling a varied adult caseload
• Flexible, collaborative, and confident team player

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology preferred
• ASHA membership/certification recommended

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in dysphagia management and dysphagia evaluation/treatment
• Proficiency performing and interpreting MBS
• Experience using Meditech EMR for documentation
• Skilled in cognitive evaluations and PMV assessments
• Strong interdisciplinary communication and care coordination skills
• Ability to manage caseloads efficiently and prioritize patient needs
• Adaptability to unit workflows and rotating weekend coverage
