Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals in the mental health unit
Perform vital signs, basic clinical assessments, and routine patient observations
Assist clinicians with patient intake, documentation, and follow-up tasks
Document care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
Support a safe, therapeutic environment through de-escalation and clear communication
Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to help patients meet goals
Help coordinate daily activities and basic patient needs to improve overall care experience

Qualifications

Medical Assistant (MA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required; MA in mental health preferred
Preference given to candidates with prior mental health experience
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required or must obtain upon hire
Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with diverse behavioral health populations

Education

High school diploma or GED required
Medical Assistant certification or CNA certification preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Familiarity with mental health patient observation and safety protocols
Ability to take accurate vital signs and perform routine clinical tasks
Comfortable with clear, concise EMR documentation (experience with any EMR is a plus)
Strong verbal de-escalation and conflict-management skills
Team-oriented mindset and reliable time management
