Virtual Monitor Technician
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Start Date: 12-17-2025
End Date: 03-18-2026
Contract Type: Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts; Day shift 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM and Night shift 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM. No set schedules; must work 4 weekend shifts per schedule (weekend coverage: Nightshift weekends are Friday and Saturday; Dayshift weekends are Saturday and Sunday). Holidays required; night candidates must be available for 2-3 days of day shift orientation.
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $34 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform continuous remote surveillance of cardio-pulmonary rhythms for multiple locations via a central monitoring station
- Recognize, document, and report potentially dangerous rhythm changes and arrhythmias promptly and accurately
- Follow established command center protocols to notify local RN staff and escalate urgent events using proper communication channels
- Operate and troubleshoot monitoring equipment including GE and Ascom systems while maintaining high attention to detail
- Chart events and communications in EPIC or Cerner per facility standards and regulatory requirements
- Manage high patient monitoring ratios (up to 45-60 patients) safely and efficiently using advanced IT tools
- Collaborate with charge nurses, house supervisors, and clinical leadership to improve patient outcomes and department metrics
- Participate in unit-specific orientation and mandatory in-person GE sessions during go-live phases
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited program that includes EKG interpretation
- Minimum 2 years of recent related work experience required; 3 years preferred
- BLS certification required
- Must pass Advanced Dysrhythmia exam prior to accepting assignment (lethal rhythms are pass/fail; one attempt only)
- Experience with GE monitoring systems and Ascom preferred
- Experience with EPIC or Cerner charting systems preferred
- Ability to monitor high patient ratios (45-60 patients) and maintain accurate situational awareness
- Availability to complete required orientation (including 12 orientation hours) and adhere to weekend/holiday scheduling
Education
- Graduation from an accredited monitoring/clinical program that includes EKG interpretation (BSN not required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
- EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia identification
- Remote/centralized monitoring workflows and protocols
- Strong clinical communication and escalation skills
- Familiarity with GE and Ascom monitoring platforms
- Charting competency in EPIC or Cerner
- Ability to follow established clinical protocols and regulatory standards
- Comfort working with high patient volumes and advanced IT monitoring tools
