Shift Type: Variable 5x8 schedule (primarily 5 days per week; days vary and include required weekend and holiday coverage), Rotating day and night shifts. Possible shift times include: 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM; 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM; 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM; 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM; 1:30 PM - 10:00 PM; 7:00 PM - 3:30 AM (Night); 9:30 PM - 6:00 AM (Night). On-call: Weekdays 10:00 PM - 7:00 AM; Weekends/holidays 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 24-hour weekend call (7:00 AM - 7:00 AM).

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform independent sterilization and endoscope reprocessing with strong attention to detail
• Operate, monitor and document cycles on autoclaves and washers (Getinge, Amsco, Steris V-Pro/System 1E, Getinge 86 series)
• Provide high-level disinfection (HLD) and manual cleaning, including ultrasonic cleaner use (Triton 72)
• Assemble, organize and verify surgical sets, loaner trays and preference cards for multiple specialties
• Serve as shift lead/preceptor when needed — mentor staff and help maintain quality standards
• Respond to on-call requests and provide reliable weekend and holiday coverage
• Maintain accurate equipment and sterilization documentation in Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) and chart in Epic
• Collaborate with OR teams to support robotics, laparoscopic, trauma and specialty procedures

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years sterile processing experience, including at least 3 years in a shift lead, precepting or team lead role in a hospital setting
• BLS required; CBSPD or HSPA required (certification evidence required at submission)
• Travel assignment experience required — no first-time travelers accepted
• Variable availability and on-call participation required
• Ability to float between Main OR and Pavilion (ambulatory surgery center)
• Required hands-on experience with Da Vinci Xi robotic systems and listed SPD equipment (Getinge, Amsco, Steris V-Pro/System 1E, Getinge 86 washer, Triton 72 ultrasonic cleaner)
• Strong critical thinking, communication and leadership/charge experience

Knowledge & Skills

• Aseptic technique and instrument processing / assembly
• Endoscope reprocessing for bronchoscopes, colonoscopes, EGD, ERCP, TEE, cystoscopes and other flexible scopes
• Sterilization protocols including IUSS, biological and chemical indicator testing and steam sterilization monitoring
• High-level disinfection (HLD), ultrasonic cleaning and washer/sterilizer operation
• Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) and Epic charting
• Loaner tray management, preference card maintenance and proper labeling/wrapping techniques
• Robotics support and specialty equipment processing across multiple surgical services
• Equipment documentation, quality assurance and infection prevention practices
