Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert respiratory care for neonatal and pediatric critical patients in the NICU and PICU, ensuring safe ventilator management and optimal outcomes
• Manage and titrate advanced ventilators and noninvasive support (Servo U with NAVA, Avea, V60, HFNC/Vapotherm), tailoring therapy to each patient
• Perform timely ABG analysis and interpret results to guide respiratory interventions
• Deliver nebulizer therapy, airway clearance techniques, and assist with bronch assist and cough/airway devices to improve patient comfort and function
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams — physicians, nurses, and allied staff — to coordinate critical care plans
• Document care accurately in Meditech and maintain unit guidelines and policies while respecting patient privacy and safety
• Act as a dependable night-shift clinician who supports continuity of care and contributes to a positive unit culture

Qualifications

• CRT or RRT (required)
• Texas RCP license (active) required
• BLS and ACLS required; NRP and PALS required
• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience (job indicates 1 year); 6 months to 1 year PICU or Level 3/Level 4 NICU experience is listed as a must-have
• Comfortable working nights and participating in required weekend coverage (at least 4 weekends per 4-week schedule)
• Team-player attitude, flexible, and able to float to adult units voluntarily when needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced ventilator management including NAVA and conventional ventilators
• Noninvasive ventilation (BiPAP/V60) and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) therapy
• ABG collection and interpretation to inform treatment decisions
• Nebulizer therapy and airway clearance techniques (Vest CPT, MetaNeb, Percussor, Cough Assist)
• Familiarity with pediatric and neonatal equipment and settings
• Experience with Meditech EMR for accurate charting and communication
• Strong clinical judgment, clear communication, and the ability to work effectively on a multidisciplinary team
