Location: Council Bluffs, Iowa

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Night shifts, 12 hours (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM), every other weekend, 1 major and 1 minor holiday, cyclic scheduling

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to stepdown patients with conditions like heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke
Titrate intravenous drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitro according to protocols
Interpret telemetry strips and respond to changes in patient condition
Collaborate with charge nurse and interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced unit with high admission and discharge volume
Float to ICU as needed if qualified and experienced
Mentor and support patient care techs and new team members

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa or compact state
Minimum 2 years of recent Stepdown/PCU experience
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
Ability to titrate drips and interpret telemetry
Valid driver's license (required at submittal for radius check)
Positive attitude, teamwork mindset, and patient-oriented approach

Knowledge & Skills

Proficiency with EPIC charting system
Skill in managing cardiac drips and monitoring patients on CPAP
Strong critical thinking and ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Flexibility to adapt to floating requirements
