Registered Nurse - Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring
Location: Phoenix, Arizona

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts; weekend rotation (3 shifts per 4-week period), self-scheduling
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nursing care to neuro acute patients in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit
- Monitor and interpret 24-48 hour trend EEGs, detect subtle changes in patient condition
- Perform comprehensive assessments including cranial nerve evaluations
- Administer medications, manage IV lines, and maintain sterile field during procedures
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including neurologists, hospitalists, and RTs
- Educate patients and families on epilepsy management and post-surgical care
Qualifications
- Valid RN license and willingness to obtain multi-state compact license (if applicable)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in Med Surg/Tele or neuro acute care
- Ability to pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts
- Successful completion of SIMs lab with Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
- Travel teams must have own vehicle; 50-mile radius rule applies
Education
- Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong critical thinking and assessment skills
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Sterile technique for catheter insertion and dressing changes
- Experience with Cerner charting system
- Cranial nerve assessment and neuro assessment skills
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
