Location: Council Bluffs, Iowa

Start Date: 08-03-2026

End Date: 11-02-2026

Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Nights, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM (12-hour shifts), cyclic scheduling, every other weekend, 1 major and 1 minor holiday

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide skilled nursing care to stepdown/PCU patients with conditions like heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke
Titrate critical drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitro
Interpret telemetry strips and monitor cardiac rhythms
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced 22-bed unit
Assume charge nurse duties as needed, including a full patient assignment
Participate in admission, discharge, and patient education

Qualifications

Active RN license in Iowa (or compact state)
At least 2 years of recent stepdown/PCU experience
Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
Comfortable with EPIC charting system
Driver's license required for radius verification
No artificial nails allowed in patient care areas

Knowledge & Skills

Expertise in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
Strong telemetry interpretation skills
Ability to manage high-acuity patients with heart failure, arrhythmias, and respiratory issues
Proficiency with CPAP and other respiratory equipment
Excellent teamwork and communication in a high-volume unit
