Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care across ER North and ER South, managing patients from minor illness to critical care
• Perform rapid triage and prioritize care during high-volume periods to keep the department flowing
• Deliver advanced life support interventions and collaborate with physicians, midlevels, RT, and pharmacy for time-sensitive conditions like STEMI and stroke
• Use Cerner for charting, orders, and documentation accurately and efficiently
• Interpret telemetry using Philips systems and monitor cardiac rhythms continually
• Support airway management by holding ventilated patients as directed and coordinating with RT
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned, overseeing unit flow and directing the team
• Mentor and work alongside students and externs while maintaining patient care standards

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of California or compact-state eligible
• Minimum 3 years of Emergency Room nursing experience required; no first-time travelers
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required; please attach certs with your profile
• Proven experience with Cerner electronic medical record required
• Comfortable with high-acuity patients, STEMI and primary stroke center protocols, and frequent ICU admissions from the ER
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and meet weekend and holiday coverage requirements (every other weekend; 2 out of 3 major holidays)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency nursing assessment and triage skills
• Proficient with Cerner EMR workflows and documentation
• Telemetry rhythm interpretation and familiarity with Philips monitoring systems
• Experience caring for pediatric lower-acuity zone through adult critical care
• Familiarity with sepsis protocols, STEMI receiving center workflows, and stroke center processes
• Comfort collaborating with respiratory therapy and pharmacy teams in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills for charge nurse duties
