Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert respiratory care and treatment for patients with respiratory insufficiencies, asthma, pneumonia and chronic lung disease
• Manage and monitor mechanical ventilation and ventilator adjustments to meet patient needs
• Deliver and troubleshoot therapies including high-flow nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP and oxygen therapy
• Perform airway management tasks such as suctioning and nebulizer treatments safely and efficiently
• Conduct thorough patient assessments and document care accurately in Meditech
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans
• Participate in stroke education initiatives and support related protocols on the unit
• Respond to urgent respiratory needs and assist with rapid interventions when required

Qualifications

• NBRC credential and active RT license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years current acute care hospital RRT experience
• At least one prior travel assignment required (comfort with travel assignments and quick unit adaptation)
• Familiarity with Meditech preferred but not required
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with physicians and unit staff

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical knowledge of respiratory therapy principles and best practices
• Mechanical ventilation and ventilator management (V60, Servo-1, Servo-U experience a plus)
• High-flow nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, oxygen therapy, nebulizer and suctioning techniques
• Patient assessment, critical thinking and effective documentation in electronic health records (Meditech)
• Comfort working in a fast-paced acute care setting and adapting to variable patient ratios
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach with physicians and nursing teams
• Active disciplinary approach and commitment to quality patient care
