Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality respiratory care to patients across the acuity spectrum during night shifts
• Manage ventilators and advanced airway devices, adjusting settings per physician orders
• Perform assessments and monitor respiratory status, including ABG interpretation and trending
• Respond quickly and effectively to respiratory emergencies and code situations
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Document care accurately and communicate changes in patient condition during shift handoffs

Qualifications

• Current New York state Respiratory Therapist license required
• CRT or RRT credential preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Clinical experience in acute care or ICU settings preferred
• Ability to work night 12-hour shifts and function independently during overnight hours
• Strong communication skills and commitment to patient-centered care

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or completion of an accredited respiratory care program
• Completion of credentialing program leading to CRT or RRT

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven competence in ventilator management and weaning protocols
• Skilled in airway management and oxygen therapy modalities
• Comfortable interpreting arterial blood gases and adjusting treatment plans accordingly
• Proficient with electronic medical record documentation and shift handoffs
• Team-oriented approach with strong clinical judgment and critical thinking
• Familiarity with infection control and safety standards in acute care
