Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage ventilators and perform ventilator weaning, troubleshooting high pressure alarms and ensuring safe respiratory support
• Provide airway management including suctioning, oral/nasal airway placement and tracheostomy care
• Assist with high-risk deliveries and provide neonatal/pediatric respiratory support when needed
• Deliver aerosol therapy and medication administration (MDI, nebulizers, inhaled therapies) safely and effectively
• Perform and interpret basic EKGs and arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis to guide patient care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans
• Support emergency procedures such as bronchoscopy assistance and extubation while maintaining patient safety
• Float between like units as needed to ensure continuity of care and staffing coverage

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience (community hospital and Trauma Level II experience required/preferred)
• Active, unrestricted Respiratory Therapist licensure (pending licenses are NOT accepted)
• CRT or RRT credentialing preferred/recognized
• Current BLS; ACLS, NRP, PALS strongly preferred
• Experience with Puritan Bennett and Avea ventilator platforms required
• Comfortable with neonatal/pediatric and adult critical care populations
• Willingness to float between like units and work variable shifts
• RTO (return-to-office/time-off) restrictions must be included at time of submission

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management: Puritan Bennett, Avea; BiPAP/CPAP expertise
• Airway management and tracheostomy care/management
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) and basic EKG interpretation
• Medication delivery systems: MDI, nebulizers, Medihaler, inhaled Flolan, Nitric Oxide (INo) familiarity
• Neonatal/pediatric respiratory support and assisting in high-risk deliveries
• Pulmonary hygiene, suctioning techniques, and sputum specimen collection
• Troubleshooting respiratory equipment and high-pressure alarms
• Familiarity with Epic charting and working in a smaller RT department
