Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate care to trauma patients in a fast-paced Level 1 Trauma ICU
• Titrate vasopressors, paralytics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics to keep patients stable
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips, manage ventilators from nasal cannula to vents
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including charge nurses, techs, and respiratory therapists
• Participate in hypothermia protocols using Zoll-Thermoguard and rapid transfusion with Bell Mont
• Float to inpatient units (excluding Maternity/NICU) as needed to support the team

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Nebraska or compact state (NLC) required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience; first-time travelers will not be accepted
• Must be outside 50 miles from Omaha and not employed by CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity
• Driver's license required at submittal to verify distance
• Successful completion of an open-book exam (90% passing) during orientation

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (certifications required)
• EPIC charting experience strongly preferred
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips independently (Draeger monitoring)
• Comfortable with invasive lines: A-lines, Swan-Ganz, ICP monitoring (training available)
• Strong critical thinking and teamwork skills in a high-stakes environment
• Flexible and adaptable – floating to various units and working with a diverse patient population
