Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead implementation and maintenance of the internal risk management program across the organization
• Direct the patient safety program as Patient Safety Officer, driving system-level process improvements to reduce adverse patient outcomes
• Plan and facilitate Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA) to identify system gaps and corrective actions
• Investigate, evaluate, and submit adverse incidents in accordance with regulatory reporting requirements and AK statutes
• Coordinate disclosure and follow-up with patients, families, and care teams after adverse events
• Facilitate Patient Safety Rounds and provide risk management and patient safety education to staff, management, and physicians
• Support accreditation and quality activities including chart audits, clinical reviews, and data support/analysis
• Collaborate with Medical Directors, Chief Medical Officer, and corporate counsel on peer-review-related quality and risk issues
• Monitor regulatory standards (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF) and ensure organizational compliance

Qualifications

• Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska required
• CPHRM certification required within two (2) years
• Clinical competency to be completed within 3 months and maintained every 3 years
• Minimum 3 years of experience in monitoring risk management, patient safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
• Proven leadership experience facilitating cross-functional teams and leading collaborative improvement efforts
• Strong communication skills for education, disclosure conversations, and multi-level stakeholder engagement

Education

• Active, unrestricted Registered Nursing license in Alaska
• CPHRM certification (to be obtained within 2 years)
• Clinical competency certification within 3 months and ongoing revalidation every 3 years
