Roles & Responsibilities

Perform pre-operative assessments for pediatric patients with attention to safety and comfort
Prepare children and families for procedures, providing clear, compassionate instructions
Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure smooth patient flow into the OR
Monitor and document vital signs and relevant clinical information accurately
Advocate for patient needs and communicate changes promptly to providers
Maintain a clean, safe, and child-friendly pre-op environment

Qualifications

Valid RN license in Missouri (or eligibility to obtain one)
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
Experience or comfort working with pediatric patients preferred
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a perioperative team
Ability to pass required background checks and facility onboarding/orientation

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of pre-operative assessment and pediatric perioperative care
Skill in taking accurate vital signs and documenting clinical findings
Competence in infection control and safe patient handling
Ability to provide clear education to children and caregivers
Comfort working in a fast-paced surgical setting and adapting to changing priorities
