Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor adult PCU/stepdown transplant and high-acuity patients using telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Administer, titrate, and monitor IV insulin protocols, insulin drips, cardiac and vasoactive drips safely and accurately
• Manage central lines and PICCs, deliver blood product administration, and maintain meticulous line care
• Provide post-procedure recovery care (kidney biopsy, paracentesis) and immediate response to clinical changes
• Deliver advanced respiratory support (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC) and non-invasive airway management when needed
• Document patient care thoroughly in EPIC and manage medications with Pyxis to ensure safe transitions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, Respiratory, Pharmacy, Social Services) to coordinate patient-centered plans
• Float to different units within the OSU system as needed and take assigned call shifts professionally

Qualifications

• Active Ohio RN License required
• BLS and ACLS required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with a strong Stepdown/PCU background
• Experience with transplant (renal and/or liver), renal failure, or other high-acuity medical patients preferred
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and titratable drips
• Familiarity with EPIC charting and Pyxis medication system
• Willingness to float within the OSU organization and work night shifts and rotating weekends

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Advanced respiratory support: BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, nasal cannula management
• IV therapy: starting/maintaining IVs, IV insulin protocols, insulin drip titration
• Vasoactive and cardiac drip management and titration
• Central line and PICC care and blood product administration
• Post-procedure recovery care (kidney biopsy, paracentesis), renal and liver transplant care
• Feeding tube management, CBI, pre/post hemodialysis familiarity
• Proficient EPIC documentation and Pyxis medication workflows
