Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality PCU/stepdown nursing care to adult and geriatric patients following evidence-based protocols
• Monitor telemetry continuously and interpret dysrhythmias to respond promptly to cardiac events
• Manage arterial, central, and PICC lines safely, including blood product administration and arterial line care
• Administer and titrate IV medications including insulin drips per protocol and manage PCA/heparin protocols
• Perform feeding tube care and other specialized post-op procedures such as burn dressings and flap checks
• Activate and participate in Rapid Response/Code teams as needed to ensure patient safety
• Document care accurately in EPIC and use Pyxis for medication administration
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (pharmacy, respiratory, PT, social work, radiology) to optimize patient outcomes

Qualifications

• BLS required
• ACLS required
• Minimum 2+ years recent PCU/stepdown or telemetry nursing experience
• Proven experience with EPIC documentation and Pyxis medication systems
• Comfort with arterial line, central/PICC line care and blood product administration
• Experience with IV therapy and phlebotomy (preferred)
• Previous Charge RN experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Flu vaccine required per facility guideline (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Management of dysrhythmias and rapid response/code team participation
• Arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
• IV therapy, starting and maintaining IVs, and blood product administration
• Feeding tube care and gastrointestinal post-op management
• Wound care including burn dressings, flap checks and Wound Vac experience
• Non-invasive airway management and oxygen delivery systems
• Familiarity with EPIC documentation and Pyxis medication workflows
• IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
• Comfort working in a fast-paced teaching hospital environment and floating to similar units
