Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality bedside care for adults on a 31-bed mixed-acuity PCU/stepdown unit
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias and rapid responses with urgency and skill
• Titrate medications and manage complex infusions safely and accurately
• Support non-invasive respiratory care including CPAP/BiPAP and high-flow nasal cannula
• Serve as charge nurse on nights when assigned—lead the team, coordinate care, and escalate appropriately
• Document patient assessments and interventions thoroughly in EPIC and manage medication workflows with Omnicell
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, RT, pharmacy, social work, rapid response) to optimize patient outcomes
• Perform IV therapy, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, and other unit procedures as needed

Qualifications

• Active Ohio RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (PCU/stepdown or telemetry preferred)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Comfortable managing CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, and non-invasive airway support
• Experience with medication titrations and titratable cardiac drips
• Ability to function as charge nurse on nights and float within the OSU organization as needed
• Familiarity with EPIC documentation and Omnicell medication systems
• Ability to work adult patient populations and handle common diagnoses like COPD, CKD, bacteremia, and acute AMS

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response (rapid response/code team participation)
• Respiratory support: CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, oxygen therapy
• IV therapy, peripheral line management, and phlebotomy
• Chest tube and tracheostomy care
• Feeding tube (NG/Dobhoff) and Kangaroo pump management
• Wound care including Wound VAC management
• Use of EPIC for charting and Omnicell for medication administration
• Heparin protocols, PCA management, and titration of cardiac drips
