Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered orthopedics nursing care for pre- and post-operative patients
• Perform dressing changes, wound vac maintenance and suture/staple removal with precision
• Manage Foley catheters and NG tube care safely and according to protocol
• Utilize Cerner EMR to document assessments, interventions and patient progress accurately
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes
• Assess and monitor patients’ conditions, intervening promptly for changes and escalating concerns
• Support unit workflow on nights, including handing off effectively to the day team and covering every-other-weekend needs

Qualifications

• Active NC Registered Nurse license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience (hospital or med-surg/ortho preferred)
• Orthopedic nursing experience or strong med-surg background preferred
• Comfortable using Cerner or other electronic medical records systems
• Team-player attitude and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthopedic nursing and post-operative patient care
• Wound care, dressing changes and wound vac management
• Suture and staple removal techniques
• Foley catheter and NG tube care
• Patient assessment, vital signs and post-op monitoring
• Experience with Cerner EMR and accurate clinical documentation
• Strong communication, teamwork and patient-family centered care skills
