Roles & Responsibilities

Provide safe, patient-centered perioperative nursing care for pediatric patients in the operating room
Prepare operating rooms, instruments, and equipment to ensure each case runs smoothly
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to optimize case flow and patient safety
Advocate for patients and families by offering clear communication and compassionate support throughout the surgical experience
Accurately document perioperative care and handoffs in the patient record
Participate in orientation, training, and continuous improvement initiatives to elevate team performance

Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or eligibility under a nursing compact
Experience in operating room nursing; pediatric OR experience strongly preferred
BLS required; PALS and/or ACLS preferred
Familiarity with sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and perioperative protocols
Strong communication skills and proven ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams

Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

Pediatric perioperative care and family-centered practices
Operating room procedures, sterile technique, and instrument handling
Intraoperative patient monitoring and safety protocols
Accurate electronic health record documentation
Prioritization, multitasking, and maintaining composure under pressure
