Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert Med/Surg and Oncology nursing care to patients in a step-down setting
• Perform thorough patient assessments, monitor status changes, and escalate concerns promptly
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following oncology and sickle cell protocols
• Support patients through chemotherapy administration when certified, ensuring safety and education
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute individualized care plans
• Document care accurately and timely in the medical record and maintain required certification records
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and self-care to improve outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (must be verifiable via Nursys)
• Minimum 2 years experience in the specialty in a similar size setting (Oncology/Med-Surg/Step-down)
• Chemotherapy certification preferred
• Must provide work history/resume with no gaps greater than 60 days
• Required: Skills checklist, references, certification card, Nursys license verification
• Complete demographic profile including a badge-appropriate photo

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Med/Surg and Oncology clinical knowledge
• Experience with step-down patient management and monitoring
• Sickle cell disease management experience
• Safe chemotherapy handling and administration practices (if chemo certified)
• Excellent assessment, documentation, and critical thinking skills
• Effective communication and teamwork in fast-paced clinical settings
