Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care for neuro stepdown patients, monitoring for changes and intervening promptly
• Perform thorough neuro assessments and document findings clearly and accurately
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following protocols and physician orders
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans in an empathetic way
• Respond to changes in patient condition, escalate concerns, and participate in rapid response as needed
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic charting and handoffs to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current RN license valid in Louisiana (or compact RN license where applicable)
• BLS required; ACLS and specialty neuro certifications preferred
• Experience working in a neuro stepdown, SDU, telemetry, or progressive care setting is ideal
• Comfort with 12.5-hour shift schedules and the stamina for fast-paced clinical care
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient communication skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in neuro assessments and recognizing subtle neurologic changes
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation experience
• Safe medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Familiarity with EMR documentation and electronic charting workflows
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and teamwork
