Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patient condition and respond quickly to changes in status
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Coordinate patient care with interdisciplinary team members to ensure smooth transitions
• Provide patient- and family-centered education to support recovery and discharge planning
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes thoroughly and timely
• Champion patient safety and infection control best practices on the unit
• Mentor and support newer staff and contribute to a positive unit culture

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Louisiana or eligibility to obtain one
• Experience in Medical-Surgical nursing (prior med/surg experience preferred)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS or other certifications a plus
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Comfort working 12-hour shift model and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical patient care and common procedures
• Proficient medication administration and IV therapy skills
• Strong documentation practices and charting accuracy
• Effective communication and teamwork skills with patients, families, and staff
• Familiarity with common hospital EMR systems preferred (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
