Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality emergency nursing care to a diverse ED patient population
• Triage and stabilize patients presenting with chest pain, CVA symptoms, trauma and more
• Interpret EKG strips and telemetry to inform rapid clinical decisions
• Collaborate closely with hospitalists, intensivists, RT and pharmacy for coordinated care
• Document patient care accurately and promptly in Cerner at bedside report
• Serve as a reliable team player for holiday and weekend coverage when scheduled
• Precept new staff during unit-specific orientation (1–2 days on floor with preceptor)
• Maintain patient safety and adherence to the unit’s 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required to submit)
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience (ED experience preferred)
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS
• Dysrhythmia Exam (Basic) through Relias required prior to acceptance — must be completed and submitted within 24–48 hours (pass/fail; two attempts allowed; screenshot of attempts required)
• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips and work with telemetry
• Comfort working in a busy 21-bed emergency department with trauma stabilization and transfers
• Two supervisory references required at submittal (one within 12 months and one within 3 years)

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong EKG interpretation and telemetry monitoring skills
• Proficient with Cerner electronic medical record/charting
• Experience with emergency triage, trauma stabilization and acute care
• Excellent communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
• Ability to provide bedside report and maintain accurate documentation
• Adaptability to rotating nights, holiday coverage and variable census

This is a contract travel opportunity in historic Gold Country. Explore Grass Valley and nearby Nevada City with charming downtowns, local coffee shops and the Empire Mine State Historic Park.
