Roles & Responsibilities

Provide direct, high-quality nursing care to medical-surgical and critically ill patients from admission through discharge
Operate and manage advanced monitoring equipment, including ventilators, arterial (A-line) and central lines, and multiple IV pumps
Assess patients continuously and implement established policies and evidence-based interventions with minimal supervision
Serve as a clinical leader on the unit: guide RNs, LPNs, CNAs and ancillary staff to ensure coordinated patient care
Precept and mentor new staff and students, fostering professional growth and safe practice
Perform comprehensive discharge planning to support safe transitions and positive patient outcomes
Manage chest tubes, invasive lines and patients requiring ventilatory support with vigilance and clinical judgement
Document care accurately, communicate effectively with providers and participate in multidisciplinary care planning

Qualifications

Current Montana RN licensure required
BLS and ACLS certifications required
PALS, EPNC, TNCC preferred but not required
Recent experience in critical care nursing and practice in an advanced medical/surgical unit required
Demonstrated ability to lead clinically and precept staff
Comfortable working independently while escalating to charge nurse, supervisor or CNO as needed

Education

Degree from an accredited nursing program (RN)

Knowledge & Skills

Critical Care Nursing and Medical-Surgical expertise
Ventilator management and advanced patient monitoring
Central line and arterial line (A-line) management
IV pump management and multiple infusion coordination
Chest tube management and care of invasive lines
Clinical leadership, precepting, and discharge planning
Strong assessment, clinical decision-making and documentation skills
Basic office equipment and electronic charting familiarity
