Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to Med/Surg patients
• Assess patient condition, interpret data, and develop individualized care plans
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Document patient progress and interventions clearly and timely in the electronic record
• Respond to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
• Support unit initiatives to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Virginia (or compact RN with Virginia eligibility)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS preferred or as required by unit
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and IV/medication administration skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient advocacy abilities
• Ability to pass facility background checks and credentialing

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med/Surg nursing practices and protocols
• Proficiency with electronic health record documentation
• Familiarity with inpatient monitoring, telemetry is a plus
• Patient-centered approach with strong critical thinking
• Time management and multitasking in a fast-paced hospital setting
