Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled therapeutic interventions under the plan of care to help patients regain function and independence
• Perform gait training, transfers, therapeutic exercise, and other PTA-directed treatments with safety and compassion
• Collaborate with physical therapists and the interdisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
• Document patient progress clearly and timely in the facility electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families on home program exercises, safety strategies, and functional goals
• Maintain therapy equipment and ensure treatment areas are safe and ready for patient use
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance care and outcomes

Qualifications

• Current Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in West Virginia or eligible for state licensure
• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Comfortable working in a rehab/contract setting and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team
• Strong communication skills and reliable documentation practices
• Previous outpatient or skilled nursing/rehab experience preferred but new grads with strong clinical skills are welcome

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Completion of required clinical affiliations

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular reeducation, and gait training
• Knowledge of safe patient handling and transfers
• Skilled clinical observation and ability to follow treatment plans
• Familiarity with documentation standards and electronic medical records
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient and family education
• Ability to adapt treatments to meet individual patient needs
