Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient assessments and evaluations to develop individualized treatment plans
• Deliver evidence-based acute care interventions including gait training and mobility restoration
• Document patient progress and plan of care accurately and timely in Epic
• Design and teach home exercise programs and provide clear patient and family education
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Safely utilize assistive devices and specialty equipment such as gait belts, sliding boards, and specialty beds
• Provide skilled care for orthopedics and neurology populations including post-op and fracture recovery
• Contribute to discharge planning and ensure safe transitions to next level of care

Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist eligible to practice in Texas
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience (acute care experience preferred)
• Charting experience required, Epic strongly preferred
• BLS certification preferred
• Comfort working with adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations
• Able to follow facility dress code and participate in an 8 hour orientation

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong assessment, documentation, and evaluation skills
• Experience with gait training and mobility interventions
• Clinical knowledge in orthopedics and neurology patient populations
• Ability to develop effective home exercise programs and patient family education
• Familiarity with acute care environment, bed alarms, call lights, and specialty beds
• Working knowledge of commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare A billing contexts
• Proficiency with Epic electronic medical record system
