Roles & Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care to gastroenterology clinic patients following established standards and within LPN scope of practice
Take and document vital signs and perform focused assessments to support patient care decisions
Triage patient calls, determine appropriate next steps, and escalate to providers when needed
Process medication refill requests and complete prior authorization tasks to keep patients’ therapies on track
Serve as primary liaison between patients, clinical staff, and providers to ensure smooth communication and continuity of care
Give direction to CNAs and coordinate with schedulers to optimize clinic flow
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members—providers, coordinators, clinical managers, and RNs—to meet patient needs

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited nursing program (LPN/Vocational Nursing)
Current State LPN license (active) required
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
Comfortable performing triage, vital signs, medication refill processing, and prior authorizations
Experience working in a clinic setting or gastroenterology preferred
Able to provide direction to CNAs and work collaboratively with schedulers and clinical teams

Education

Graduate of a Nursing Program (LPN/Vocational Nursing)

Knowledge & Skills

Proficient in taking and interpreting vital signs
Telephone triage and patient communication skills
Familiarity with medication refill workflows and prior authorization processes
Clinic nursing best practices and outpatient patient care
Teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration
Delegation and supervision of nursing support staff (CNAs)
