Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Lanham, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem schedule (days vary), Day shift, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and toileting
Support mobility and rehabilitation activities under nursing direction
Monitor, record, and report changes in patient condition accurately
Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team and families
Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control practices

Qualifications

Current GNA classification or certification (required)
Prior experience with elderly or rehab populations preferred
Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
Ability to pass background check and meet facility health requirements
Strong communication skills and a compassionate bedside manner

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred
Completion of an accredited GNA program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of basic geriatric care and common age-related conditions
Skilled in ADLs, patient transfers, and safe mobility assistance
Accurate documentation and charting habits
Team-oriented mindset and clear communication with clinical staff
Reliable time management and the ability to follow care plans
