Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, resident-centered care and assist with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting
• Support safe mobility: assist with transfers, ambulation and fall prevention to keep residents moving safely
• Monitor and record vital signs, behaviors and any changes in condition, communicating promptly to nursing staff
• Assist with meals and feeding as needed, ensuring dignity and comfort at mealtimes
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and follow individualized care plans
• Uphold infection control procedures and facility safety standards to protect residents and staff
• Build trusting relationships with residents and families; bring kindness, patience and a sense of humor when appropriate

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (or state equivalent) — required
• CPR/BLS certification current or willingness to obtain per facility requirements
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB testing as required by the facility
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen
• Compassionate, patient-focused attitude with strong communication skills
• Experience with geriatric or long-term care populations is preferred but supportive training is available

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic geriatric care
• Basic clinical skills: taking and recording vital signs, safe resident handling, and accurate charting
• Familiarity with infection prevention, safety protocols and resident rights
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to collaborate with nurses and support staff
• Good time management, observation skills and attention to detail
• Empathy, patience and the ability to provide dignified care to older adults
