Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
• Monitor and record vital signs and resident conditions accurately and promptly
• Document care activities and changes in resident status in the facility record system
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to support individualized care plans
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control and safety protocols

Qualifications

• Current GNA/Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification (required)
• State registration or certification as applicable for Maryland GNA roles
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable working with older adults and able to provide respectful, patient-centered care
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and meet facility immunization requirements
• Reliable attendance and strong communication skills with residents and care teams

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA program or equivalent state-approved training

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assisting with ADLs and safe resident transfers
• Knowledge of basic vital signs monitoring and reporting changes
• Familiarity with infection control practices and PPE use
• Competent documentation and charting of care activities
• Strong interpersonal skills and empathy for older adult populations
• Ability to follow care plans and escalate clinical concerns appropriately
