Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive echocardiogram studies (Transthoracic 2-D, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, Transesophageal, exercise and pharmacologic stress echo) accurately and efficiently.
• Conduct EKGs, prepare and analyze Holter monitoring data, and administer cardiac stress tests to provide high-quality diagnostic information.
• Operate, troubleshoot and maintain diagnostic cardiac equipment including echocardiographs, cardiac stress systems, electrocardiographs and Holter monitors.
• Accurately document and process studies in hospital information systems for scheduling, billing and clinical records.
• Implement infection control and aseptic techniques to ensure patient and equipment safety.
• Provide preceptorship and clinical guidance to students from contracted colleges and universities as required.
• Deliver age-specific care across neonatal, pediatric and adult populations, adapting techniques and communication appropriately.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams to communicate findings and support patient care decisions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS/RDCS) required
• Completion of an accredited echocardiography or cardiovascular sonography certification program OR minimum 2 years hands-on echocardiography experience
• Preferred: Extensive hospital-based echocardiography experience, with strong experience in pediatric and neonatal echocardiography
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well with physicians, nurses and students

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Certificate in Cardiovascular Sonography or completion of an accredited echocardiography program (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography techniques
• Experience with M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler and stress echocardiography (exercise and pharmacologic)
• Skilled in EKG/ECG acquisition and interpretation, Holter monitoring and analysis, and cardiac stress testing
• Familiarity with hospital information systems for scheduling, processing and charging
• Knowledge of infection control, aseptic technique and equipment disinfection
• Ability to provide age-specific patient care across neonatal, pediatric and adult populations
• Experience mentoring or precepting students and providing clinical guidance
