Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical oversight for the Occupational Therapy department, ensuring high-quality patient care
• Supervise and directly oversee certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and Rehabilitation Technicians
• Coordinate and manage clinical education and competency processes for all OT staff
• Develop, review, and maintain Occupational Therapy policies and procedures covering scope of care, evaluation and treatment standards, discharge planning, and documentation
• Evaluate and treat patients (approximately 80% clinical time) with evidence-based approaches
• Lead program development efforts and support administrative tasks (approximately 20% time)
• Ensure compliance with state regulations, professional standards, and facility policies
• Conduct competency assessments and provide mentorship to build a strong, skilled therapy team

Qualifications

• Current California Occupational Therapy license (Board of Medical Quality Assurance) required
• Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (required)
• Ability to directly supervise COTAs and rehabilitation technicians and coordinate clinical education
• Familiarity with state therapy board recommendations and Rehabilitation Services Department requirements
• Member of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) preferred

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of Occupational Therapy (AOTA-approved)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in patient evaluation and treatment across relevant populations
• Strong clinical supervision and mentorship abilities
• Knowledge of documentation standards, discharge planning, and regulatory compliance
• Experience with competency assessment and clinical education program development
• Ability to develop and maintain OT policies and procedures
• Excellent communication and team leadership skills
