Roles & Responsibilities

Deliver top-notch age-specific dental care to patients from infants to geriatrics
Educate patients on preventing oral disease with a focus on hygiene and nutrition
Perform thorough oral tissue exams, periodontal therapy, coronal polishing, and fluoride applications
Take precise x-rays and monitor vital signs like pulse, blood pressure, and temperature
Manage patient schedules smoothly to keep things running efficiently
Lead dental prevention activities at health fairs, sealant clinics, and Head Start programs
Maintain and sterilize hygienist supplies and instruments meticulously

Qualifications

Graduate of a two-year Dental Hygiene Program, Bachelor's Degree preferred
Active Dental Hygiene License in Alaska or another U.S. state, Alaska preferred
BLS certification required within 45 days of start
Clinical Competency and High Risk Competency within 3 months of hire

Education

Graduate of a two-year Dental Hygiene Program
Bachelor's Degree preferred
High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

Expertise in clinical hygiene and periodontal therapy
Strong oral and written communication skills
Accurate clinical judgment
Proper infection control techniques
Principles of dental and periodontal disease
Skilled use of dental instruments
Excellent dexterity and ability to sit over patients for extended periods
