Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical support and mentoring to new employees, experienced staff, and students — be the go-to clinical resource on the Med/Surg unit
• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate both formal and informal educational activities including orientations and ongoing continuing education
• Support nursing staff with complex patient care, safe medication administration, and evidence-based treatment plans
• Serve as a clinical practice resource and mentor, guiding skill development and enhancing bedside competencies
• Act as a liaison between bedside staff and leadership to communicate clinical concerns and feedback effectively
• Analyze patient data to identify practice gaps and develop targeted interventions to improve care quality
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement standards of care, new protocols, and clinical equipment training
• Perform quality control audits, monitor compliance with regulatory standards, and report concerns to leadership

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license for the State of Alaska
• Nursing degree required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) — American Heart Association
• Basic Life Support (BLS) — American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) — American Heart Association
• Clinical Competency Assessment - SEARHC and High Risk Competency - SEARHC
• Minimum of 5 years of RN experience in acute care settings preferred
• Strong communication, leadership, organizational skills, and ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to safely lift/move a minimum of 50 lbs and perform required physical duties

Education

• Nursing degree required
• BSN preferred

• Clinical nursing practice and safe medication administration
• Comprehensive patient assessment and acute care management
• Electronic health records (EHR) proficiency and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Teaching methods, staff orientation, mentoring, and staff education techniques
• Quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and clinical audits
• Effective communication strategies and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Flexibility to work varying schedules and respond calmly in high-stress situations
