Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver patient-centered occupational therapy interventions under the direction of an OT to help clients regain independence
• Assist with evaluation, treatment planning, and implementation of therapeutic activities tailored to each patient
• Provide skilled therapeutic exercises, ADL training, and adaptive equipment recommendations
• Document progress and outcomes accurately and timely in the patient record
• Collaborate closely with nurses, therapists, and the care team to coordinate discharge planning and continuity of care
• Educate patients and families on home programs, safety strategies, and adaptive techniques to promote lasting gains
• Maintain professional standards, infection control, and safety protocols at all times

Qualifications

• Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
• State licensure or eligibility to practice in New Mexico required
• BLS/CPR certification required or willing to obtain
• Experience in inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient, or skilled nursing preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative mindset
• Willingness to complete facility orientation and any required onboarding for travel assignments

Education

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related field
• COTA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in ADL training, therapeutic activity design, and adaptive equipment use
• Proficient in documenting clinical notes and treatment plans in electronic medical records
• Ability to assess functional needs and set meaningful, measurable goals
• Comfortable working within an interdisciplinary rehab team and communicating with families
• Knowledge of safety, infection control, and HIPAA standards
• Good time management and prioritization skills in a fast-paced clinical environment
