Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Silver Spring, MD

Shift Type: Evening shift, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM; days scheduled by facility (may include weekdays and weekends) - Evening

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $22 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Assist residents with daily living activities like bathing, dressing, and mobility with dignity and compassion
Monitor and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
Support safe transfers and positioning to prevent falls and promote comfort
Provide friendly companionship and engage residents in meaningful interactions
Document care accurately and timely in resident records
Follow infection control and safety procedures to protect residents and staff

Qualifications

Active GNA certification or completion of an approved nursing assistant program
Current basic life support CPR certification preferred or required per facility policy
A caring attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team
Ability to follow care plans and facility procedures consistently
Prior experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus

Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred; completion of a certified nursing assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of basic resident care and activities of daily living
Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
Good communication and interpersonal skills with residents and families
Knowledge of infection control and safety best practices
Comfortable with documentation and following care plans
