Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, promoting dignity and comfort
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
• Take and record vital signs and report any changes in resident condition promptly
• Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to prevent injury
• Document resident care accurately and communicate effectively with nursing staff
• Help create a warm, home-like environment and engage residents in meaningful activities
• Participate in team huddles and contribute to a collaborative care plan

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass background check and meet facility health requirements (TB test, immunizations)
• Comfortable assisting with mobility and transfers; ability to stand and move for shifts
• Compassionate communication skills and a patient-centered mindset
• Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of an accredited GNA program required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of elder care practices and common geriatric conditions
• Skilled in basic nursing tasks: bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, and toileting schedules
• Proficient in taking vital signs and observing/reporting changes
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with residents and families
• Familiarity with infection control practices and proper PPE use
• Reliable documentation and basic computer or charting familiarity
