Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing and grooming with dignity and respect
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Monitor and record vital signs, intake and output, and any changes in condition
• Follow individualized care plans and communicate updates to the nursing team
• Maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for residents
• Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to residents and families
• Adhere to infection control, safety policies and facility procedures at all times

Qualifications

• GNA certification (Maryland or equivalent state certification) or completion of an approved GNA program
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required depending on facility
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Strong interpersonal skills and a caring, patient-centered approach
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an approved GNA program or state-recognized certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in personal care, toileting assistance and safe transfer techniques
• Proficient in documenting care accurately and communicating with clinical staff
• Knowledge of infection prevention and standard precautions
• Good time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
• Compassionate, patient and respectful communication with residents and families
