Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patient nutritional status and create individualized nutrition care plans that drive better outcomes
- Implement Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) across inpatient populations with attention to clinical protocols
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the care team to coordinate nutrition interventions
- Monitor progress, adjust plans as needed, and document interventions clearly in the electronic health record
- Provide practical nutrition education to patients and families to support recovery and long-term health
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance nutrition services and patient care
Qualifications
- Active Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field from an ACEND-accredited program
- Completion of an accredited dietetic internship or equivalent supervised practice
- California licensure if required by state regulations
- Current BLS/CPR certification preferred
- Clinical experience in acute care or hospital settings preferred (approximately 1+ year)
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field (ACEND-accredited)
- Completion of an accredited dietetic internship or supervised practice
Knowledge & Skills
- Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for acute care populations
- Nutrition screening, assessment, and care planning
- Familiarity with enteral and parenteral nutrition principles
- Comfortable documenting in electronic health records
- Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Critical thinking and the ability to prioritize caseload effectively
