Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patient nutritional status and create individualized nutrition care plans that drive better outcomes
• Implement Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) across inpatient populations with attention to clinical protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the care team to coordinate nutrition interventions
• Monitor progress, adjust plans as needed, and document interventions clearly in the electronic health record
• Provide practical nutrition education to patients and families to support recovery and long-term health
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance nutrition services and patient care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential
• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field from an ACEND-accredited program
• Completion of an accredited dietetic internship or equivalent supervised practice
• California licensure if required by state regulations
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred
• Clinical experience in acute care or hospital settings preferred (approximately 1+ year)

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field (ACEND-accredited)
• Completion of an accredited dietetic internship or supervised practice

Knowledge & Skills

• Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for acute care populations
• Nutrition screening, assessment, and care planning
• Familiarity with enteral and parenteral nutrition principles
• Comfortable documenting in electronic health records
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
• Critical thinking and the ability to prioritize caseload effectively
