Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to MedSurg patients
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualized nursing interventions
• Administer medications and monitor patients for therapeutic responses
• Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists and the care team to optimize outcomes
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans
• Document assessments, interventions and patient progress accurately in the EHR
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns as needed
• Support unit efficiency by mentoring colleagues and contributing to quality improvement

Qualifications

• Current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced certifications such as ACLS or specialty certifications preferred
• Minimum 1 year recent MedSurg RN experience preferred
• Current immunizations and ability to pass background and drug screening
• Comfortable with EHR documentation and standard hospital workflows

Education

• ADN required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and prioritization skills
• Medication administration and IV therapy competency
• Experience with electronic health records and accurate documentation
• Excellent communication, teamwork and patient education skills
• Ability to manage multiple patients and shifting priorities in a fast-paced setting
• Basic familiarity with quality improvement and patient safety principles
