Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound exams (Abdomen and OB/GYN) for radiologist interpretation
• Provide sonographic care across the lifespan — newborn through geriatric patients
• Maintain accurate patient records and procedure documentation
• Ensure transducer care and upkeep of the Trophon station
• Participate in departmental quality assurance and accreditation efforts
• Assist with ultrasound-guided invasive procedures as needed
• Transfer and transport patients safely to and from imaging
• Rotate shifts and assume department responsibility in the absence of a supervisor
• Pursue continuing education to meet radiology/RDMS requirements

Qualifications

• Current ARDMS in at least one category (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, or RDCS) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association required
• Ability to perform a full range of diagnostic exams related to the assigned modality
• Comfort working with patients of all ages and cultural backgrounds
• Willingness to travel to various SEARHC sites as needed
• Professional judgment, strong communication, and teamwork mindset

Education

• ARDMS certification in one modality (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, or RDCS) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Diagnostic medical sonography techniques (ABD and OB/GYN emphasized)
• Patient assessment across growth and development stages
• Transducer care and infection control procedures (Trophon handling)
• Quality assurance, accreditation processes, and policy/procedure participation
• Basic patient transport and safe handling practices
• Commitment to continuing education and expanding RDMS credentials
