Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up operating rooms with sterile instruments and supplies
• Assist surgeons during procedures by anticipating needs and maintaining the sterile field
• Perform instrument and sponge counts accurately to ensure patient safety
• Sterilize, clean, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment
• Document procedures and maintain accurate perioperative records
• Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, and perioperative staff to support efficient, safe patient care

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent training
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or actively pursuing certification preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtainable prior to start
• Prior OR experience preferred; strong familiarity with sterile technique and instrumentation
• Reliable team player with strong communication skills and attention to detail

Education

• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program or diploma/certificate

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of sterile technique and operating room protocols
• Familiarity with common surgical instruments, trays, and sterilization practices
• Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and manage instrument counts
• Good documentation skills and comfort using electronic medical records
• Strong teamwork, situational awareness, and patient safety focus
