Roles & Responsibilities

• Interpret cardiac telemetry and rhythm strips accurately to inform rapid clinical decisions
• Titrate cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone) per physician orders and established parameters
• Care for ED hold patients awaiting placement, delivering high-quality telemetry and medical-surgical care
• Perform essential bedside tasks such as IV starts, vital signs, medication administration, and patient assessments
• Float to med/surg/tele/overflow units and sister EDs as needed, providing flexible, patient-centered care
• Complete required pre-start dysrhythmia exam and pass the PASS/FAIL simulation lab on orientation day
• Collaborate with ED charge nurses and the multidisciplinary team to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios

Qualifications

• Current RN license (must be eligible to work in Arizona)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum ~2 years strong cardiac telemetry background preferred
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret ECG strips and dysrhythmias
• Experience titrating cardiac drips per physician orders
• Ability to float to med/surg/tele units and work in a fast-paced ED-hold environment
• Comfort charting in Cerner or similar electronic health record systems

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition
• Cardiac drip titration and hemodynamic monitoring
• Emergency department hold patient care and prioritization
• Continuous cardiac monitoring without dedicated monitor tech support
• Basic critical care knowledge and ED patient support skills
• Strong communication, teamwork, and rapid assessment abilities
