Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care nursing for ICU patients during night shifts
• Perform continuous patient assessment and monitor complex hemodynamics
• Manage ventilators, infusions, and advanced life support interventions as needed
• Respond rapidly to emergencies and participate in code/resuscitation events
• Document timely and accurate patient care notes and handoffs
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
• Educate patients and families with compassion and clear communication
• Complete required specialty competency testing and skills checklists

Qualifications

• Active RN license with ability to practice in Iowa (License/Certificate Verification required)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS
• Current fit test and ability to complete Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklist prior to start
• Up-to-date immunizations and health screening (COVID-19 vaccine, Tdap, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella, 2-step PPD or IGRA, physical/health statement, 10-panel drug screen)
• Comfort and competence working full responsibilities on night shift and covering every third weekend
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills in high-acuity settings

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN/BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care assessment and hemodynamic monitoring
• Ventilator management and titration of advanced therapies
• Medication administration for ICU-level patients and infusion pump competency
• Acute respiratory and cardiac care, stroke assessment familiarity (NIHSS)
• Accurate electronic health record documentation and handoffs
• Team-based collaboration and clear communication under pressure
• Infection control practices and proper use of PPE
