Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients' conditions, interpreting changes and escalating appropriately
• Provide safe, compassionate direct patient care and administer medications and treatments
• Perform stroke assessments using NIHSS when indicated and document findings accurately
• Maintain clear, timely documentation in the electronic medical record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and implement patient care plans
• Participate in Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and skills checklist validation
• Support unit-level initiatives for patient safety, infection control, and quality improvement

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (able to practice in Iowa)
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required or demonstrable competency
• Successful completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
• Required health screenings and immunizations per facility policy (fit test, drug screen, Tdap, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Hep B, influenza, PPD/IGRA, varicella, physical/health statement)
• Ability to work every third weekend and holiday coverage as scheduled

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment skills
• Proficiency with stroke assessment protocols (NIHSS)
• Comfortable with electronic medical record documentation
• Effective communication and teamwork across disciplines
• Infection control practices and medication administration skills
• Ability to learn and demonstrate specialty competencies and checklists
