Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients’ respiratory status to ensure safe, effective care
• Deliver respiratory treatments and therapies with precision and compassion
• Operate and troubleshoot respiratory equipment such as oxygen delivery devices and ventilators
• Document patient care, progress notes, and treatment plans accurately in the clinical record
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and the care team to develop and adjust respiratory plans
• Provide patient and family education on respiratory treatments and home care
• Participate in orientation and training to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications

• Current state Respiratory Therapist license or the ability to obtain licensure in Missouri
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Clinical experience in respiratory care or related settings (new grads with strong clinical training considered)
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
• Ability to complete required orientation and any facility-specific competencies

Education

• Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related healthcare field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred or a plus
• Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency with respiratory care equipment and oxygen delivery systems
• Knowledge of pulmonary function testing and airway management fundamentals
• Ability to assess respiratory status and interpret basic monitoring data
• Familiarity with infection control practices and patient safety protocols
• Comfortable using electronic medical records for documentation
• Strong patient education and bedside manner skills
