Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform initial triage and full patient assessments for all ages, prioritizing care and patient flow
• Provide telephone triage, assessment, and self-care guidance when appropriate
• Administer medications (oral, topical, IM, SQ, intradermal, IV push/infusion) and manage IV therapy
• Document assessments, interventions, patient education, and follow-up in the medical record accurately
• Coordinate care and referrals, track outcomes, and communicate status to providers
• Maintain infection control, safe work environment, and adequate supplies/equipment
• Serve as a resource in emergency situations and participate in department improvement efforts
• Potentially serve as vaccine coordinator or support vaccine operations as needed

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and qualified to sit for the NCLEX
• Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hire must have applied for an Alaska license before start date; agency staff must have an active Alaska license)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
• Clinical Competency assessment required within 3 months of hire and every three years
• High Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and annually
• Minimum 2 years of general nursing experience, with at least 1 year in ambulatory or urgent care preferred

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)
• High school diploma or equivalent (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong triage and patient assessment skills, including age-appropriate vital signs and clinical education
• Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy/IV access
• Comfortable with telephone triage and EMR documentation/charting
• Knowledge of infection control and clinic protocols
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and remain calm in urgent/emergent situations
• Excellent oral and written communication and teamwork skills
