Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias to keep patients safe and stable
• Provide progressive care nursing including PCU/stepdown patient assessment and management
• Start and maintain IVs, manage central/PICC lines, and administer blood products per protocols
• Respond on rapid response/code teams and participate in emergency cardiac care
• Deliver respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC and tracheostomy care when needed
• Document accurately in Epic to ensure clear, team-wide patient communication
• Perform wound care, feeding tube management and other specialized bedside procedures
• Float within the OSU organization as needed to support patient care across units

Qualifications

• Active Ohio RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years recent progressive care/PCU/stepdown experience
• BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Comfortable with central/PICC line care, IV therapy/phlebotomy and blood product administration
• Ability to float within the organization and work every other weekend
• Epic charting experience preferred; teaching hospital experience welcomed
• First-time travelers accepted — open to clinicians new to travel contracts

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Progressive care and PCU/stepdown patient management
• IV therapy, central line and PICC care, and phlebotomy
• Respiratory support: BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, oxygen administration, tracheostomy care
• Wound care and familiarity with wound vac systems
• Heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, and managing PCA and cardiac drips per policy
• Use of Epic for clinical documentation
• Rapid response/code team participation and emergency response skills
